Dear MizzouThon Family and visitors,
For over 15 years, MizzouThon has stood by our mission of ensuring that every child has the right to be a kid. We strive to provide emotional and financial support for pediatric patients and their families in mid-Missouri, treated at MU Health Care’s Children’s Hospital. In 2018, we completed our $1 million pledge to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that was named the MizzouThon NICU. We could not have accomplished this without the strength and support from everyone in our MizzouThon Family. We have since signed another pledge to complete a goal of $1.25 million in 5 years.
If you are unfamiliar with MizzouThon, we are the largest student-run philanthropy at the University of Missouri, consisting of over 1,000 members. Our organization is a year-round endeavor, hosting many events including family events, a 5k, fundraising events, awareness events and our Main Event, which will take place in March 2025. At this past event in 2024, we were able to raise $131,960.64! Over our 15 year history, we have raised over $2 million for their future.
Everything we do is for the children and families that have utilized MU Health Care’s Children’s Hospital. Our organization would not be where it is today without our incredible Miracle Families. They are the backbone of this movement and are what pushes us to fight for the right to be a kid.

AWARDS
At the Dance Marathon Leadership Conference in July of 2017, MizzouThon was awarded Best Storytelling for celebrating our miracle in the sky, Tommy Veltrop, through an hour dedicated to him at the 2017 Main Event.
During this hour, Tommy's family shared his story, members were challenged to raise $12 to celebrate Tommy's twelfth birthday and took a moment to remember his life by holding up red (Tommy's favorite color) glow sticks. At the end of the hour, Tommy's fundraising total had surpassed $1,000 and joined the comma club.
We are so humbled to have received this award and will continue to celebrate the life of Tommy!
At the Dance Marathon Leadership Conference in July of 2022, MizzouThon was awarded the Miracle Maker award for programs that have existed between 15 and 19 years! This award recognized our program’s growth over the 2020-2021 year, coming back from a time affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the course of one year, both our fundraising and participation amounts increased by 70%! We are honored to receive this award, and we will continue to work hard for even more growth in the future!
